A British man has been arrested for murder after his partner’s body was found buried under concrete at their home inPortugal, according to reports.
Officers used pneumatic drills and pick axes to break through the concrete at the couple’s home in the Algarve, according to the Portugal Resident newspaper.
The police are said to have discovered the body of Brenda Davidson, 72, during the operation on Tuesday night.
A man, reportedly her partner, Nigel Jackson, 59, is said to have been arrested on suspicion of her murder.
A Foreign and Commonwealth Office spokesman said: “We can confirm the arrest of a British national on 7 January on the Algarve in Portugal. We are providing consular assistance.”
Asked about Davidson, the spokesman added: “We can confirm there was a British national reported as missing in the Algarve in Portugal since December 2014.
“We are providing the family with consular assistance.”
The Portugal Resident reported that Davidson is said to have gone missing in November, with her partner telling neighbours she had “gone to UK for treatment for a nasty cough”.
