Sad: Fire guts Heritage Mall in Ibadan, destroys Filmhouse cinema

A section of the Heritage Mall in Dugbe area of Ibadan, Oyo state, occupied by Film House Limited, was on Saturday razed by fire which completely destroyed the cinema section. However, at the time of filing this report, the cause of the fire is still unknown, but the Corporate Affairs Manager of Odua Investment Company Limited who own the mall, Mr. Victor Ayetoro, said the fire was put out by men of the Oyo State Fire Service with help from the Central Bank of Nigeria and Sweetco Fire services. “All the four sections of the Film House were gutted by the fire. It was the securitymen nearby that raised the alarm and called some of the workers of the Film House who had since gone home after close of work by 11pm. There was no way the staff could make it to the mall because it happened late in the night. The security alerted the Mall Chief Security Officer who immediately called the fire service of Oyo State. “The film house staff who came later were all surprised to see what had happened as no equipment could be salvaged,” added Ayetoro, who said property worth millions of naira was destroyed in the fire,” Ayetoro said.
